    Hello all you good people!

I'm in a bit of a pickle and would really appreciate any tips/suggestions/advice from you all. I have two laptops, one running Windows 7 and the other running Windows XP. I used TeamViewer to control the XP laptop as well as regularly transfer files between the two computers.

Sadly, the version of TeamViewer that I was using was just recently discontinued and I was told to upgrade to a newer version. I did that but for some reason, it does not work on my XP laptop. I'm guessing the new version doesn't support XP? So I'm stuck right now.

I was wondering, is there an alternative to TeamViewer that would allow me to control another computer as well as allow file transfer but it must be FREE and PORTABLE. Any suggestions? Many thanks!

You can use Windows' own Remote Desktop.

@lunarlander That means versions number 4 through versions number 14. The current version is 14.
