Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA3 6GB/S 7200RPM 64MB Cache 3.5IN Dual Proc Hard Drive OEM 5 year warranty.

Seagate Barracuda ST31000524AS 7200.12 1TB SATA 32MB Cache 3.5IN Internal Hard Drive OEM Product Warranty
First 30 days limited warranty through NCIX.com. The remainder of the one year warranty is provided directly by the manufacturer.

The WD drive has a 64MB Cache and the 5 year warranty. This is the one I would go with and I always buy WD Black:)

later, but Caviar Black is my sole choice. I have a number of these, never an issue with them after many years.

I don't know if you want pure low-price, or assured quality, but Staples has a 1 TB hard drive for less than $100.00:

EDIT: This one's also cheaper than the one you mentioned:

PS: I think the Seagate comes with a 5-year limited warranty.

Cheaper is in this case not better. Go with the WD Caviar Black and have the best. The Seagate has a 1 year limited warranty and the WD Green is of lesser quality then the Black and comes with a 3 year warranty.

Unless WD just changed something, both the RE and the black series have a 5yr warranty.

I agree go with the black series or the RE series drive. It will cost you more money however if you think about it, if the mfg will only offer a 1~2yr warranty, what does that tell you about the quality of the drive?
