If you spend enough time browsing the questions that are posted on these forums, you will notice that a lot of replies recommend installing and running Hijack This, Ad-aware, and Spybot - Search & Destroy. Why?

Experience has shown that a lot of computer problems are caused by having a lot of spyware files and registry entries present in a computer.

It is rare for me to work on a computer for the first time, or return to one after several months, and not find 100 - 200 or more spyware files and registry entries in it.

Spyware is everywhere - in some of the programs that we install and in some of the websites that we visit. In most cases, you are not even aware that it is there, unless you keep a regular check on the Add/Remove Programs list and the MSCONFIG startup(tab) list, and unless you run spyware-detection programs on a regular basis.

For starters, I would highly recommend that everyone install Ad-aware 6.0.181 and Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.2, learn how to update and run them, and then run them on a regular basis.

We all need to wage war on spyware and keep our computers running better. :) (y)

I addition to adding spybot S & D , many users do not take advantage of its immunize feature. This feature prevents the spyware from its current data base from ever getting on the system , much like the programs $teve added links to..As well I agree, we do need to wage war and prevention is the palce to start
