Hello and thank you for viewing my request for help. I have been browsing your forums for months and learned quite a bit from them! So thank you for that as well! On to the issues;

-Computer starts/boots slow at minumum, 5-10 minutes before you can access anything on the desktop
-Computer restarts at random times (I believe this is a hardware over heat issue, can you confirm, bridge runs between 70`C - 90`C)
-IE8 runs slow(boot/surfing)
-Windows hangs often (50% recovers - 50% needs reboot)

I scanned for malware/virus/spyware with AdAware/AVG8.0/Panda online/symmantec online all are clear.
I have a Pentium4 HT 3.0 Ghz, 2gig Ram, GeForce 6200 DDR2 512MB, Windows SP3.

Please find the HijackThis, DDS and Attach logs below. Any information or insight would be greatly appreciated.

The Ark.txt file could not be captured as it froze my computer at every attempt to run it.

Again, thank you for all of your time and consideration in my issues.

Dunno, the temperatures seem within spec....

Ya got a lot of things running, maybe go into "start-run-msconfig" then the "startup" tab and uncheck anything your sure you don't need to run, ie your virus/malware protection. May need to restart after that and see what ya get... ya can always turn that stuff back on if this doesn't help. An easy change.... if that helps, then you can put back items one at a time until you figure what is dragging your system down.

90`C is pushing it, considering there is often a wide range of error in software temp measurements. Have you blown the dust out lately?

My P4 runs under 45 C even under heavy load but then it's slower than yours (1.6 Ghz.)

Well, did a little research on your cpu.... I need to study more on temps, but here is what I found.....

two links.........

http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Penti....0 GHz - RK80546PG0801M (BX80546PG3000E).html

90C is pretty hot per that link....

http://reviews.pricegrabber.com/processors-retail-box/m/2058578/

both links are fyi only, i'm learning too....

Thanks....

I just cleaned out my cpu last month(dec) blew everything out and even re-set the processor with new thermal paste. did good for the last 30 days. I'm lost there.....

On the MSconfig - when I hide all the microsoft stuff, my list is only about 12 items long, and all seem necessary. I'll spend more time in there too see if there is anything hidden in the microsoft items..

Lastly, is there any good resource for learning how to read the HiJackThis log and DDS log? its all gibberish to me. :)

Thank you again for everything!

Take a look in Task Manager and see if the processor idles down when you're not doing anything to excite it. Malware can cause some extreme processor activity - not saying that's your problem - just musing. Throttling down and freezing is characteristic of an overheating processor. Fan running ok and up to speed? Did you clean the old heat transfer paste off entirely before applying the new with a light coat? Cabinet location in good air flow?

Disable all of the non-MS items in msconfig and reboot for effect. Any better?

A further test is to perform a "Clean Boot" and see if the problem is relieved.

Another good test is to remove the case side panel and set a desk fan or similar to blow on the mobo and processors. Monitor the temps under that condition and if much lower, you could benefit from a better case fan or possibly a duct to direct the air from the existing fan directly on the processors area.
