A video hardware error is causing windows to stop working correctly?

    I have been using my computer twice now and the screen has turned black, i am pretty sure the computer itself is working but you cannot see anything, this is the error report i have gotten on Vista:

    What video card is it? If you right click on your desktop, then on Personalize, and then Display Settings it should say what it is. You probably just need to update the graphics driver.

    its an nvidia for my notebook, the problem is when running on standard windows the thing will freeze up after a while, in safe mode have had no problems and have not had the glitch so I know its definetly the graphics card

    Does it say which NVidia graphics chip it is? What laptop is it, make and model please.

    If you go to the laptop manufacturer's website and put in your model number in the downloads section they may have a new driver available for download.

    i found the number of the laptop and went to hp site, i have the latest graphics driver

    is there any way that the graphics driver could have been currupted and need to be uninstalled the reinstalled (i would have to do this in safe mode right?, and would need to have downloaded the install file to desktop before uninstalling it)

    I did delete over 15 spyware files on a scan, found no viruses

    I also disconnected a fan i have been using to cool computer (it is plugged in to usb port)

    I am using it right now and it seems to be working fine

    Yes, the driver may need to be reinstalled. You don't need to do it in Safe Mode, just download the new one first, then go to Programs and Features in the Control Panel to uninstall the current one.

    But if doing the other two things seems to have helped then wait and see if the problem is resolved.

    im not sure i understand how ur saying to install the new driver, so download the same one i have now to the desktop then uninstall the one on computer and then install the one i had downloaded??

    You need to download the latest driver from Nvidia's site, remove yur current driver then install the new one.
    If the problem persists after you install the new ones, it could be a problem with your video card, generally these types of problems in error reporting are due to software issues, though.

    The only mobile Geforce(GO) that NVidia provides directly are rthe Geforce 7 series cards, for other cards you should go to the manufacturer's website.
