Now I'm having a bit of a problem after I tried installing a modded bios, and of course it failed (stupid I know). When I turn on the computer, it gives me a Bios ROM checksum error, and it tries to boot from my cd drive or the floppy drive that I don't have. I've tried creating a bootable cd with my old bios, and one with a official one but both failed when the flashing utility (awdflash.exe and awd822a.exe) said that my old bios was not an award bios, and when I tried the official one it gave me the error "System was not new Award Bios version, please update ROM bios first"
Normally I would say the computer was done for, but this is the first computer I've had that has Boot Block, that gives me the chance to change the bios. Needless to say, all I really want now is the computer to run windows. The problem I think, may be with the flash utility I'm using. Any ideas on what to do next would be appreciated. The computer is SR1630NX from Compaq and the mobo is A8AE-LE from asus.
    Thanks,
    Gordian:confused:

I know when applying newer bios updates to asus boards, it's not recommended to use the utility that's on the mobo CD anymore.
They recommend you use a utility called "AFUDOS.EXE" instead.
    You can try that.
There should be a copy of the original bios on your mobo CD.
Try using that to (it's with the old updater), sometimes you have to re-boot and run it several times before the update actually succeds.
    Good luck.

I'll try it out once I grab some new cds, I wasn't aware that I have to go to asus for their own utilities, my pc didn't come with a mobo cd, blasted cheap compaq computers:)
