    Get Hijack This: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html

Make sure it's downloaded to a permanent folder of your creation on the hard drive.

    Launch it
    Hit Scan, then Save Log
    Open the log
Copy & paste it into this thread

Do not attempt to fix anything yet
Someone will analyze the log for you and give you further instruction

Hi Pegesu and welcome to TSG,

You have reported this thread as you don't fully understand the instructions. I will try to clarify it a little for you.

Cheeseball81 is asking you to download Hijack This, a diagnostic tool that will help us determine what the problem is.

The link provided is a zip file and it has to be unzippped. It might be easier for you to get the direct download which will automatically be saved to the program files. You just need to create a separate folder of its own for the program. This is important so that it can function properly and create back-ups. Here's a direct link:

    http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/hijackthis_sfx.exe

One you've downloaded the program, close all other browser windows and click on the scan button. Once the scan is completed the scan button will change to save log. Click on save log and Notepad will open up with the results of the scan. Copy and paste those results in a reply here in this same thread.

    HI Cookiegal !!

I have downloaded hijackthis. I can not find a scan button anywhere. I am as lost as I was before the download. I am a real computer illiterate. I downloaded what I think is hijack this to a CD. I don't know what else I can tell you so you can help me. I know that about blank is still active. It pops up off and on and won't let me do anything. My screen is black where it is normally blue.

I hope you can make sense of this!!!

    Thanks
    Pegesu
