Can I switch power supplies with another computer to test it out. The possible bad one is 235w max and the other is 200w max. The first was w/ a intel p2 the other with athlon 1.4 ghz? Will this work or fry the old system? Thanks RayW Both are ATX

Yeah you can do it. I wouldn't recommend running the AMD system with a 200 watt power supply though. Don't test the possible bad one in the working computer as you risk the chance of damaging the working system as well.

Here's a calculator for power supply requirements: http://www.jscustompcs.com/power_supply/
You always want to have more watts available then the minimum and don't buy a cheap power supply if it comes to that. They are unreliable.
