small whenever I open my database it says it cannot open because me and another user are attempting to change....why does it say that when I'm the only one using it?

at the directory that the Access database resides in. If there is a .LDB file there with the same name as your database, it is a lock file. Sometimes Ms. Access forgets to delete this file, usually when an error kicks you out of the DB. You can open this file with notepad to see who had it locked. If you are sure no one is in the DB, you can delete this file. Sometimes, the file cannot be deleted, the OS won't let you. If you reboot the machine, you should be able to delete it then...

    Hope that helps...
