I am setting up a database and I would like to get some ideas on what would be the best way to it and compare it with mine.

I have a list of shareholders (ID #, name, address) that I am going to import in the new database.

Each shareholder has to vote for a maximum of three candidates for each terms (3 terms in all) and the list of candidates for each term is different.

I have to report daily who is winning for each term.

    Thanks

    3 tables

    Shareholders (shID, Name, Address)
    Candidate (canID, Name, OtherStuff)
    Vote (canID,shID)

The shareholder and the candidate tables are static and the vote table is updated. YOu need some kind of validation to ensure that each shareholder only casts 3 votes and that they don't vote for the same cadidate twice. Unless you are doing all of the data entry and then it should be fine.

I agree with Rockn's structure. You may need a couple things extra though.
I would have a "Term" field in the Candidate table to designate which term they are running for. Also, You may want a "VotePosition" field in the Vote table so you know if the candiate was the first, second or third pick. Hope this helps
