We are having a problem with a Client associations in a Cisco AP, right now we have about 30 clients trying to connect to a Cisco AP which is set only to accept data rates of 24mbps ( Mandatory), we having a lot of issues with that config.

My question is, if I set to 1Mbps as mandatory and set to support all other data rates from 1 to 54, will that cause more load on the AP? or will the AP know when to lower down the client data rate when more people associate to it?

The exact model of the AP would probably be useful here. :)
