I have Windows XP on my laptop. The system crashed and I want to get my data out so I removed the harddrive and connected it to another laptop via a USB cable. I can open all of the data except for the one protected under my user name folder, because I had a password. Is there a way I can get into that folder (I still have the password) without running windows?

    Hi, danbcnbc :)

    Welcome to TSG.

If you are able to have access to the volume in Safe Mode, you may be able to take ownership of that folder.

You can read about it here.

I understand, but can you access that drive running the computer where the drive is connected, in Safe mode?
