What type of computer are you dialing into? Is it an NT, XP, Win2k, Win9x box? The PC you are dialing into has to have the ability to be dialed into and then some form of networking or application to allow access the remote resources.

The remote computer is a Mac (G4?) and the owner has set the files to sharing mode

I dial up- using "dialup networking" and feeding the telephone no. etc. The dialler shows 'connecting' but then starts to redial.

The line at the other end is ok and functional
