We are having a problem with this laptop. The mouse is erratic and we have trouble logging in - occasionally it will let you type in the password but sometimes you only get to two or three characters and it freezes up and the hard drive is running like crazy like it is doing something. Once it is done it lets you finish logging in and it boots to the desktop. Once you are on the desktop the mouse continues to be erratic and the computer is remarkably slow. We tried running some spyware detectors and also made sure the anti-virus was updated. All Vista updates have been done including SP1 - nothing helps. We also completed a defrag and disk clean-up. It seems like the CPU is overloaded so we upgraded the RAM today from 1GB to 4GB. At first the laptop was much faster booting up and loggin in but the mouse is frozen. Upon rebooting now it is back to a slow login. It does need a new battery which we are getting for it - any chance that may be the problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
