    Hi everyone

This issue is occuring on my mom's laptop, so ill try to describe the issue at a high level first, maybe it's an easy one.

Her Acer Laptop cannot see the 5G Network (provided by Comcast), but her cellphone can see it.

Anyone know what could cause this?

    Thank you

Hello LiverpoolFan and welcome to TSG.

I deleted my previous post when I noticed you could be referring to one of two different things. When you say "5G Network" are you referring to the 5 GHz WiFi band or 5G cell phone data communications.

If you are referring to a 5 GHz WiFi band that may be used by a Comcast WiFi enabled modem/router, her laptop may be older and not support the 5 GHz band.

If you are referring to 5G cell communications, then the laptop would require a USB based 5G modem adapter or use the cell phone as a local WiFi hotspot.

    Liz,

I've edited your post no. 5 as that is not the correct advice. Please do not encourage users to seek help elsewhere. The proper procedure if no one responds within 24 hours is to simply post a new reply with the word "bump" to bump the thread back to the top where it's more likely to be seen again.

The simple answer is that the laptop may not have the correct wireless adapter that can see the 5GHz network. Worse case you would need to purchase an updated wireless adapter that can see the 5GHz connection.

What is the make/model of the laptop?
