acer laptop wont turn on

today i was using my laptop and it turned off i tried to turn on but it wont turn on i get the green light on and the fan moves for about 2seconds and stops but the light keeps on , i tried different ram, different hard drive but i cant get it to work thats anyone have any idea what the problem could be , because i think is dead motherboard but i dont want to jump to conclusion yet :confused: anyone with the same problem ???? thank you

How old is it and does it do the same using either the power-supply and just the battery?

is about 3 years old yh it thats the samething with battery or with power supply

Try taking the battery out and try just using the powersupply

Could the fan and heatsink be clogged with dust?

The powersupply could be checked to see it is supplying the correct voltage

i have done that i tried with different power supply with out the battery and the fan is free dust do u think it colud be the cmos battery ???

I wouldn't really suspect the Cmos battery.......did you notice the time changing on the PC before this happened?

no i didnt notice i was on a website and it turns off but i think if it was the cmos battery i cpould a list go to the bios but if the motherboard turns on then that means the motheboard works ??
