We are looking at getting a new laptop for our office, and one of the programs we use day in and day out is the database program ACT! 2000. Despite this being an old version of ACT, we have avoided upgrading because it does exactly what we need it to, we know how to use it, and more recent versions seem to have features missing that we regularly use on the 2000 version.

The primary laptop that is used on currently is on Windows Vista, but the time has come to upgrade. There is however one major issue preventing us from going ahead with it: will ACT 2000 run on Windows 8?

I know for a fact that it runs on Windows 7 64-bit, as I have tested it on my own laptop. However, we are unsure whether the same is true for Windows 8. On Windows 7 64-bit, it won't install if you try running it via the auto-run, but just manually go into the disk and find the setup.exe file and it works fine - will the same be possible on Windows 8?

Any answers will be much appreciated!
