    Hello,

Unable to find out how to activate comm port via Windows 98. Have a digital camera that needs this port activated in order to download pix.

    Thank you.

    Hi remus, welcome to TSG.

Just to be sure, this is not a USB camera, correct?

How many com ports do you have on the computer? Is anything else attached to one if you have more than one?

    Hi:

    Thanks for responding.

The JVC camera does not have a USB cable. It has a small cable for digital out that looks like what was known as a "mini" for audio. This then has a 8-pin (?) at the other end that plugs into the comm port.

There are two comm ports on the computer. The other one is for the printer.

    Any help is hugely appreciated.

    Best,

    Remus

Ok, the one for the printer is larger, no?

Do you know how to access your bios setup when the computer is restarting to be sure your com port is ENABLED?

And just FYI, it's a 9 pin connector.
