is there something wrong with the adAware updates? I just ran an update and it went 5% then the finish button came up. Whet I closed and reopened I got an error saying it could not load the reference file.

My dad had the same thing on his PC....It just started, maybe there's a problem at AdAware?

    Does anyone know?

You can try the update again or reload adaware. What version are you using?

    version 6.181

I re-installed but it did not help. I'll go to the site and re download it and see what happens.

I've seen the same thing today. I found that SE updates correctly. I'll do some checking and see what I can find out. For now I suggest you get SE.

    Download Adaware SE http://lavasoft.element5.com/software/adaware/

Install the program and launch it.

First in the main window look in the bottom right corner and click on Check for updates now then click Connect and download the latest reference files.

From main window: Click Start then under Select a scan Mode tick Perform full system scan.

Next deselect Search for negligible risk entries.

Now to scan just click the Next button.

When the scan is finished mark everything for removal by right-clicking in the window and choose select all from the drop down menu and click Next.

That is what I thought was going on but I have had no time to research it. Thanks for the heads-up. :)
