Modern desktop memory has slots with a clip on both ends.
You press the clips outward and the memory is lifted and released.
To install the new boards, you press them straight down into the slot
until the clips seat into the ends of the memory.
You need to check your memory configuraion.
If you only have 2 slots with 1GB memory in each, then you would
probably want to use something like 2-2GB memory boards to upgrade.
If you have open slots, you can just add more in them.
Make sure to get memory that is compatable with your system.
Discharge any static from your body and make sure the system is powered down
and disconnected from the AC power.
Just to add,the memory is keyed and will only go in one way.

To find out what RAM you currently have and what your computer can accept, go to Crucial and run their System Scanner Tool.
