I went to remove the Jasc Paint Shop program that came with my computer (because it has expired, and is apparently the default program so we have a problem opening any photos), and there is a HUGE gap in my add remove programs (between one program and another - pages of blank space) and the remove/change buttons are missing. It also looks like the 'how often used' things are wrong.

I have updated and ran my anti-virus, I run adaware every day and clear my cache every day.

I have just ordered AutoCAD ADT 2007 Student version and want to be sure all is cool with my system before I install it.

What could be wrong? Here is my HJT log in case it is relevant:

    Hi, Carolinamom1 :)

    Welcome.

Please download the enclosed folder. Save and extract its contents to the desktop. It is a batch file to query your registry. Once extracted, double lick on the Query.bat file and attach the report it will produce.

[IMG]Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) from here or here to your Desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.
    1. Close all applications and windows.
    2. Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
    3. When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt <-this one will be minimized
    4. Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of both, the main.txt and the extra.txt in your next reply.
If the files are too long, attach them to a reply:
    1. Scroll down and click the [Manage Attachments] button
    2. Browse to the following folder:
      • C:\Deckard\System Scanner
    3. Click Upload to upload these files one by one
    4. Submit your reply

    Hi, Carolinamom1 :)

Please download the OTMoveIt by OldTimer.
    • Save it to your desktop.

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670} - (no file)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [sprinit] C:\WINDOWS\svcwinra.exe

Now close all windows and browsers, other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked.

    Close Hijackthis.
    • Please double-click OTMoveIt.exe to run it.
    • Copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

      C:\WINDOWS\swn32reg.dll
      C:\WINDOWS\svcwinra.exe
      C:\WINDOWS\ssprb32wl.dll
      C:\WINDOWS\sspra32wl.dll
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\64DD373849.sys

    • Return to OTMoveIt, right click on the "Paste List of Files/Folders to be moved" window and choose Paste.
    • Click the red Moveit! button.
      • If able, copy everything on the Results window to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it on a note pad document. Save it on the desktop and post its contents in your next reply.
    • Close OTMoveIt
If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

Download and run the McAfee Removal tool

This tool is not compatible with Microsoft Windows 98 or ME.

    1. Download the removal tool from HERE.
    2. Click Save and save the file to any folder on the computer.
    3. Navigate to the folder where the file is saved.
    4. Double-click MCPR.exe.
    5. Click Run. A Command Line window will be displayed, and then close automatically. Wait for a second Command Line window to be displayed.
      • Note: Do not double-click MCPR.exe again, you may have to wait up to 1 minute for the next window to appear.
    6. After the second window appears, the program will begin the cleanup.
    7. Observe the installation, which could take several minutes. The following message will be displayed in the Command Line window:
    8. The machine must reboot to complete the un-installation. Reboot now? [y.n]
    9. Press Y on the keyboard.
    10. Wait for the computer to restart.
All McAfee products should now be removed from your computer.

I need to see the Query report previously requested and a fresh Hijackthis log.

    Hi :)

The McAfee Remover seems to be stuck. It just says 'Preparing to remove products' and has sat like that for more than 1/2 an hour. Can I close it and restart it?

    Thanks

    Hi, Carolinamom1 :)

On Post #2, I included a file to obtain a report from your registry. Please run this file and post its report.

Is your Add/Remove programs buttons issue resolved?

No. That is not the file I need you to run. See the Attached file on Post #2. The instructions on how to download and run this file are explained therein. The attachment is labeled Query.zip.

    Hi, Carolinamom1 :)

Nothing wrong on those entries. Let me see an image (Snapshot) of the Control Panel. Open the Control Panel (make sure issue is displayed) and expand the window.

    • Press the PrintScreen key.
    • Then go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > Paint
    • In Paint, go up to Edit > Paste
    • Then Go up to File > Save As. Click the drop-down box to change the "Save As Type" to "JPEG", name it what you want, and save it on your desktop.
    • Upload that image in your next reply.

I hope this is the right picture. If you notice after architectural, there is a HUGE blank space (pages and pages) before the next entry. I have attached another screenshot of the next entry...

    Hi, Carolinamom1 :)

I would like to compare the list of programs that would generate Hijackthis with the list that appear in the Control Panel.
    1. Open HijackThis, click Main Menu, click Open Misc Tools Section
    2. Click "Open Uninstall Manager"
    3. Click "Save List" (generates uninstall_list.txt)
    4. Click Save, copy and paste the results in your next post.

This will be an alphabetized list of programs installed.

Open the Control Panel ->Add/Remove programs and check the box "Show Updates". Take a Screenshot as you did before and upload those shots to a reply.

I want to see where the gap begins and where it ends. Then compare with the Hijackthis Uninstall list if there is a program missing within that gap.

It is a longshot, but it may give us information that we can't see otherwise.
