    An unexpected error occurred.

When I go to Contol Panel / Add/Remove Programs I get the following error.

Object does'nt support this property or method
    res://sp3res.dll/default.hta
    Line: 82

Am running windows 2000 pro with sp3. Tried to install sp4 but it did not take, and setup shut down.

    Have run sfc /scannow.

    Any suggestions appreciated.

Download, install and update Ad-aware. Read everything it says and read the documentation. This is meant to fix the problem. Ad-aware can be find in my signature.

The problem may be caused by the registry values added by some spyware, hence the idea of ad-aware. However sp4 is also meant to get rid of the problem. Did you download sp4 through the auto update? if you go to this website it has a copy of sp4.exe but if you have dial up it wouldn't be worth doing Link as it would take forever. This Link Click
might be useful too. Although i didn't read through it all.
