adding printer freezes pc

I am attempting to set up a printer through a Sohoware print server. I've been successful on 3 other pc's on my mini-network. I think this is a windows prob.

I am supposed to add a printer, then choose another port (not lpt1) that I can see after loading the sohoware software. Problem 1 is that after I choose that port, the searching for protocol window comes up and hangs. I then have to reboot.

So, I thought I would reload win 98 second edition. Now I can't even add a printer because it asks for my win98 disk looking for files, but can't find them.

HELP!

Mindy,

The files it is looking for on the Win 98 CD are probably there but hidden in a subdirectory.
Try pointing it to the different folders on the CD and you will see the file name show up in the browse window when it finds it.

I have had this happen frequently, usually because I am using a different CD than the one Windows was installed from.
