    okay people, i'm back and in need of all your wisdom, this is my dilema. i created a web site on my pc using Serif web plus, which is a wysiwyg program, i published it ti tripod: www.members.tripod.com/heels02891/ it came out okay, with some problems in links going to the right place, but there is no way to add things ie guestbook,counter, etc. so this is what i did. saved my webpages to a folder on my hard drive, downloaded a html editor:" HTML DWARF" opened up the pages into the editor. went to a free web tools site "BRAVEHEART" got codes for the things i wanted and instructions and pasted them into my web pages on the editor. then i previewed my web page(an option of the editor, opens it into a browser) and everything looked fine the things were there, and in the right places (much to my surprise) so i have "WS_FTP pro" to upload to tripod, do everthing right, takes like an hour and a half to upload 6,000+ files. then when i go to my web site the things i put there aren't. i tried several times, and several ways. just wont upload the counter, guestbook etc. the site is still completely intact, just no things i want on it. anybody know what i'm doing wrong? or have a better way to do it. please keep in mind i'm relatively dumb when it comes to writting code and such. trying to teach myself. thanks in advance

    What was the web counter written in? Perhaps tripod doesn't support what you are trying to do as far as format. There are certain things that will not run on certain web servers. Thye might just have a pre-written counter that you can download so ask them. I see on your home page that at least one of the links is incorrect for the home page.....it has a mailto function on the link. The site seems a little disjointed too. How can you have over 6,000 files on this site?

    Just looked at their site and Tripod has tons of add on scripts and guestbooks. They are free and they do support them.

    yes i did try to do that but it won't allow me to add things from their web building site, because (i think) i didn't create it on their building site. and maybe i should have said images, when i watch the ftp upload, it goes from jpeg.1-60154.jpeg with a few gif's thrown in there. anyway it takes a while to upload. this is a sample of their code for a guestbook:
    <div align="center"><p>
    <a href="http://pub10.bravenet.com/guestbook/show.php?usernum=794658272&cpv=1">
    <img src="http://images.bravenet.com/pub/viewbook.gif" border="0" width="100" height="35" /></a>
    <a href="http://www.bravenet.com/">
    <img src="http://images.bravenet.com/pub/gbook.gif" border="0" width="100" height="35" /></a>
    </div>
    i copy and paste it, where i think it should go, but no go

    I checked you index.html, no where is there a reference to the code you pasted in here.

    This is the code, minus <a> and </a> and <>

    a href="http://pub10.bravenet.com/guestbook/show.php?usernum=794658272&cpv=1"
    img src="http://images.bravenet.com/pub/viewbook.gif" border="0" width="100" height="35"
    a href="http://www.bravenet.com/"
    img src="http://images.bravenet.com/pub/gbook.gif" border="0" width="100" height="35"

    Also, how is it 6000 files?
