Now i cant change permissions back.... I can access and run Command prompt as normal.... But not when i click on Command Prompt as admin. it cannot find the program... I am so so stuck. Cant access photoshop.... accounting software.... Nothing works..... The programs cant seem to read the C: at all.... Even sytem restors does not work... Windows cannot access c:\windows\system32\rstrui.exe

Its like there is no administrator but something is !!!

    Kindest regards,

    David..

Changing file permissions willy-nilly can, as you have found out to your cost, cause all sorts of unintended circumstances. To try and get it back in running order may be a real chore; therefore, what is the possibility of re-installing the OS? Do you have your personal data and applications backed up?

No, I don't believe in telling someone off, especially when dealing with their own system. It's counter-productive, and making someone feel worse when they're already feeling bad is pointless :)

Having a backup of your accounting software is good; which package is it? Do you have the installation program and any product key which may be required? As far as the Dell is concerned: usually they will have a restore volume, which can be accessed to restore the PC to factory defaults, and then work from there.

What is the operating system? Microsoft uses terms like Vista, XP, Windows 7, etc. They don't have an account OS.

    thanks,

is this a home rig, or a work rig? If the latter, is it on a domain?

    let's start with this:

Please run the MGA Diagnostic Tool and post back the report it creates:
    • Download MGADiag to your desktop.
    • Double-click on MGADiag.exe to launch the program
    • Click "Continue"
    • Ensure that the "Windows" tab is selected (it should be by default).
    • Click the "Copy" button to copy the MGA Diagnostic Report to the Windows clipboard.
    • Paste the MGA Diagnostic Report back here in your next reply.

Only by reformatting with a valid install. I've requested a second pair of eyes to take a look, but it also looks like your windows office install isn't legitimate either.
