So Adobe bought out Macromedia and they basically renamed all of their products Adobe_____. And took the credit? Has Adobe even made a piece of software themselves?

    First Name:
    Make the comparison.

Also bear in mind that just because they bought in the original product doesn't mean that Adobe is merely profiting from someone else's enterprise. The merge took place 5 years back; all and any development over that time is the work of Adobe personnel. They handle maintenence, bug fixes, and adding features. Just compare one of their products as is from it's version 5 years back and you'll see what they've been doing.

Lastly there is a flipside to having their name on the products: if anything goes wrong with the software such as a major security embarassment, the buck stops with them. In other words that software is now Adobe software regardless of its origins.

They slowly shifted the products. They didn't just buy everything in 1 day.
