I have DNG Converter version 10 installed and am trying to update to version 11.1; but, each time I attempt to install, I get the following error:

Error opening file for writing: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe DNG Converter\Adobe DNG Converter.exe. Alick Abort to stop the installation, Retry to try again or Ignore to skip this file.

I get the same error concerning these files also: tbbmalloc.dll and vcruntime140.dll,

Regardless of the option I choose, I end up with version 10.

Things I've tried already:
  • restarted the computer
  • used task manager to stop all background processes with adobe in the name
  • redownloaded version 11
  • redownloaded version 11.1

1. Avoid 11.1 because it is beta.
2. To fix vcruntime140.dll, read this
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...an-i-fix/c5c1461a-3b75-428c-9c5d-18d56a11f2bc
3. Do a search for tbbmalloc.dll on youe Windows 10 computer. I do not recommend downloading a dll from any 3rd party site so I can't post a link for you to get it.

4. After those are fixed and you've rebooted, download from here https://supportdownloads.adobe.com/thankyou.jsp?ftpID=6450&fileID=6470
and try to install.

I don't think you can upgrade because below version 10.3, the program is stored at a different place than 11 will be installed to.

Thanks for the help; but, this thing seems to have corrected itself and I'm not sure how it happened. I did uninstall Photoshop Elements 12 and Premiere Elements 12. Then I installed both again in the 2019 versions.

After that, DNG Converter installed smoothly.

So, I guess I'll never know what it would have taken to fix it otherwise.
