When I go to change my wallpaper, the icons will be on "dtails" by default. Is there any way I can ghange it to display them as thumbnails?

Also, when I change the wallpaper, it assumes I want it stretched. I always want my images centered. Is there any way I can get it to do that by default?

If I understand your question correctly, try this...
Question #1 Go to Folder Options > View and Scroll Down the menu to where you see "Remember Each Folders Settings" and make sure the box is checked. ( I have it set up that way, but it still reverts back to the details setting on occasion  )

    #2 -

If you want to change the way the picture is displayed on your desktop, right-click the desktop, and then click Properties. On the Desktop tab, in the Position box, select a display option.
