    how can I tell if I go to a new clients network, if his nics are 10/100 or just 10 without taking the cards out or tracing the manufacturers spec

    Most of the NICs I have seen will have an LED on the back to indicate wether or not the NIC is running at 100Mbs.

    You can check on the hub/switch led as well. My intel hub indicate the speed by color, orange & green

    Thanks all the lights on the hubb all went orange when I put the 100mbps in
