    Hi,

I have several audio cassette tapes I would like to convert to text. They consist mostly of clearly spoken interviews and the audio quality is good for a cassette tape. They go for many hours, so I wanted to connect them to the computer, let it play, and come back and change tapes.

I connected the cassette player directly to my computer's mic jack. I tried using Dragon Naturally Speaking 7, but that didn't work well, because it is designed for people talking directly to it. It requires "voice training", and thats not possible with the voice on cassettes. Not only is the accuracy very poor, it will always stop after a few minutes, giving an error that "the utterance was too long to process".

One of the possible reasons may be that I trained Dragon to a male voice, but the voices on the audio tapes are female and quite different. It would have probably worked better if there are "presets" or without training, but those are not availabe in Dragon.

Is there any software designed to do this job? If you have any other tips, please share.

Accuracy isn't that important, as long as it can get the job done (get through the whole tape)

    Thanks a lot,
    Dan
