When I loaded Ahead Nero it gave me a virtual CD drive that I don't have.
    Can anyone tell me,

    1. Do I really need this extra drive and if not how do I get rid of it.
    2. When I burn, and change the format of, mp3 files onto a CD I can't play these in my car. I think the format has to be .cda but Nero doesn't burn this format. Does anyone know of a solution.

    Hi Dingus,
No need to worry about the extra drive...thats normal.

About the .cda files, Nero definetely burns cds in that format. All you've to do is select the Audio Cd option in the Nero Wizard. After that drag and drop the files into the compilation area...burn. Thats it.

edit : Just incase you want to getrid of that drive letter -

You can use TweakUI to remove that icon from My Computer. With TweakUI,

Start->Settings->Control Panel->TweakUI->My Computer. Uncheck the extra drive letter(s)->Apply->Ok.

    TweakUI

    You're most welcome Dingus ;)

Hey I edited my earlier post. If you want to remove that extra cd drive icon follow the steps above!

PVC9, sorry but it looks like I was leading you up the wrong path, it appears that I was indeed burning in .cda format but there is something that stops the files playing in a 'CAR' player.
    Anyone got an idea.:(

Are the car players older players......if it plays in your home system and portable then its nothing to do with how you are burning.....

FWIW, you may have to change brands of CD-R blanks, and also restrict yourself to 74 minute CD's, depending on your car's CD player.
