I accidentally downloaded a virus from AIM, and I wanted to know if anyone knew what it was and how to get rid of it. Every time I put up an away message, 2-3 minutes later, it automatically changes into a message that says "PICS FROM THE BEACH" with a hyperlink to a page that seems to do nothing. However, once clicked, it infects the computer so that your away message keeps going back to that same thing. Doesanyone know how to get rid of it??? i ran my norton anti-virus and it didn't find anything...

What I would try doing is either running an adware scan, or uninstalling and reinstalling AIM. I bet one of the pro's here will ask you for a HJT log. My friend had this problem and i dont think its too serious, just annoying.

I found this off the AIM site: here

whats the URL of the website that the link in your away message forwards you to?
