In the spreadsheet I use (Excel 2010 on a Win 7 machine) there is a production page open all day, and a maintenance page that monitors when a tool needs to be changed. When an alert to change tool comes up, a cell in the maintenance page flashes that message, but because I am usually in the other page I don't see that. I would like the bottom tab of the maintenance page to flash a bright color so I know to go to it to see which tool needs replacing. I have limited Excel knowledge and am pretty sure it would require VB code. Can someone help me out? Thanks.

Hi there, I don't think (I'm almost certain) that this is possible.
The only think you could do is probably write a macro that is triggered at fixed intervals (Application.OnTime) and checks if there are situations that shiuld trigger an alert, and if that is tru, that if changes the tab color which will show if it is not the active tab and then reset it after the necessary actions have been taken.
Like I said, Excel itself has no options for this but the above could be considered, it does mean that the macro wiill be triggeren 'on time' and if you're busy with something else in Excel it might hinder other actions.
