Hello, Today I woke up to a pc that would get to bios and said “disk error occurred” press Ctrl alt del to restart. I believe it is my hardrive that is over 5 years in age and think it’s dead. So I’m putting in a Samsung 500gb ssd in its place. Just wanted a second opinion, on what the problem may be.
thank you.

Ok so I took the SATA cable and through it into a different slot and it started booting. But now it says repairing disk errors. This might take over an hour to complete.

Since it appears to be repairing disk errors, there might be a problem with the hard drive.

If the drive boots after it is repaired, don't use it. The less you use it, the better it will be to get it imaged.
Purchase your ssd and clone the problem hard drive to the ssd.
