I hope you kind folks can help with a very exasperating problem

I have a Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium computer between 2 and 3 years old.

Internet Explorer is my preferred browser and I am up to date with IE 11. (I know)
I also use Chrome and Firefox.
For a while now, they all are very sluggish to non-responsive.

I have Windstream DSL and it's 12 Mbs and runs fairly close to the stated speed most of the time.
Some things I do that helps some but only temporarily are:
Run Malwarebytes and it always comes up clean.
Run Superantispyware and usually get several hundred adware things which I clean.
I have run Ccleaner way more than I ever have.

    Examples of issues are:
In IE, I get frequent page is not responding or just freezing up.

I have just started "casting" from Chrome to my Chromecast.
From my computer, the playback is jerky.
From a different computer it plays fine.

    This is frustrating.
Otherwise the computer functions fairly well.
I keep it clean of garbage but still having this issue that has been terrible for about a week now

    Thanks

are you doing a registry clean up ?

try in safemode with networking - see if that is OK

safemode with networking (sometimes wireless does not work with safemode )

Windows, XP, Vista and W7 as the PC starts keep tapping F8 - a menu appears - choose
safemode with networking - see if that works

    Thanks, etaf.
I have not done that but will here directly as soon as I finish defragging.
I have used Ccleaner's registry repair

Also clear out all the tempfiles and also all the browser tempfiles and history
although Ccleaner should have done that - apart from the registry cleaner, its the bit that does work OK

Do I do something while in safe mode or just start the computer in safe mode then restart normally?
    Thank you

use the browsers and see if they work OK
    also try chromecast
Somethings may not work in safemode - but its worth seeing what will work and if its OK
If things do run smoothly, then we know its one of the programs in the normal startup
Then we can try a clean boot and see if we can find the program that is causing the issue

Thanks, Chromecast worked well in safe mode and I restarted to normal and it worked ok there too.

I can get the computer cleaned up so it works decently but it clogs up really quickly

For example, I have had to run Superantispyware and Ccleaner more than once a day for a few days now.

This may not be significant but Superantispyware finds lots of adware each time.
I believe that can slow down a computer.
I am running the free edition so it can't protect me but it does clean them up.

Does that sound like a problem?
If so, I would pay for it so that I don't go through all this aggravation

    Slowed down again, today.
Running Superantispyware and it has found 111 adware/tracking cookies since last night.
    I'll run Ccleaner after this.

Looks like I'm going to buy the Pro Superantispyware and see what happens then

you appear to have marked solved now
Also it can take a while to get a reply on the virus forum, if you dont in 48hrs - then reply with the word "bump" which will bring the thread back to the top of the forum
