i had the same problem with that damn desktophijack and trojanhijack that appeared on the desktop... think i got that all figured out. followed all the steps here http://forums.techguy.org/showthread.php?t=374465 but everytime i reboot i still keep getting this exp.exe coming up on my startup list. also keep getting eliteuhe32 coming up.. THINK i got the ndnc taken care of and the vrvaru taken care of because they havent been coming up on startup... i also cant get into windows updates. i went to security center, but it said it couldnt enable it and to go to automatic updates in control panel... but when i go there, everything is shaded in... cant disable or enable ANYTHING. i've tried damn near everything including spyware doc, no adware, norton, ccleaner.... bla bla bla.still cant get it all fixed... here is a hijack this log:

    DL and run http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/Popup-Ad-Spyware-Blockers/EliteToolbar-Remover.shtml

Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

    http://www.atribune.org/downloads/l2mfix.exe
    http://www.downloads.subratam.org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
    · Install ewido.
    · During the installation, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
    · Launch ewido
    · It will prompt you to update click the OK button and it will go to the main screen
    · On the left side of the main screen click update
    · Click on Start and let it update.
    · DO NOT run a scan yet. You will do that later in safe mode.

Restart your computer into safe mode now. Perform the following steps in safe mode:

    Run Ewido:
    · Click on scanner
    · Click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
    · During the scan it will prompt you to clean files, click OK
    · When the scan is finished, look at the bottom of the screen and click the Save report button.
    · Save the report to your desktop

Post that log and a new HJT

well... i ran the l2mfix and it gave me a dos prompt... i clicked 1/enter and then i got a window that says 16 bit MS-DOS subsystem at the top... then it says:

    c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe
c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt. the system file is not suitable for running ms-dos and microsoft windows applications. choose 'Close' to terminate the application...

i clicked a few times just to see and here's what i got:

    XP Fix - http://www.visualtour.com/downloads/

Scroll down to get XP Fix
    http://www.tech-forums.net/computer/topic/29806.html aoutexec.nt

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Boot and post a new HJT log

    Did you run Ewido??

Download Find_Qoologic2.zip save it to your Desktop.

    http://forums.net-integration.net/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=134981

Extract (unzip) the files inside into their own folder called FindQoologic.
    Open the FindQoologic folder.

Locate and double-click the Find-Qoologic.bat file to run it. Wait until a text opens, post it in a reply to your thread.

You might find you get an error message when first running this file, if so close it and run again and wait until file.txt opens on desktop

Ignore the first list that opens with a long list of files and wait for FILE.TXT to pop up.

It normally takes somewhere between 10 to 15 minutes depending on your computer.

You need to move hijackthis.exe off of the desktop to a permanent folder like c:\HJT

Get ALL of these and run AdAware – Spybot and especially MS AntiSpy

    SpywareBlaster 3.4 http://majorgeeks.com/download2859.html
    SpyBot V1.4 http://www.majorgeeks.com/download2471.html
    AdAware SE 1.06 http://www.majorgeeks.com/download506.html
MS AntiSpy - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...A8BD-DBF62EDA9671&displaylang=en&Hash=RDXMHB6 (XP and W2K only)

DL them (they are free), install them, check each for their
    definition updates
and then run AdAware and Spybot, fixing anything
    they say.

In SpywareBlaster - Always enable all protection after updates
In SpyBot - After an update run immunize

    Fix these with HJT

    DL http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.zip

Restart your computer into safe mode now. (Tapping F8 at the first black screen) Perform the following steps in safe mode:

Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. Now put a tick by Standard File Kill. In the "Full Path of File to Delete" box, copy and paste each of the following lines one at a time then click on the button that has the red circle with the X in the middle after you enter each file. It will ask for confimation to delete the file. Click Yes. Continue with that same procedure until you have copied and pasted all of these in the "Paste Full Path of File to Delete" box.

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\vrvaru.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\imapi.exe

Note: It is possible that Killbox will tell you that one or more files do not exist. If that happens, just continue on with all the files. Be sure you don't miss any.

    Exit the Killbox.

Open Windows Explorer. Go to Tools, Folder Options and click on the View tab.
Make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked.
Now click "Apply to all folders", Click "Apply" then "OK"

    Delete these folders

    START – RUN – type in %temp% OK - Edit – Select all – File – Delete
Delete everything in the C:\Windows\Temp folder or C:\WINNT\temp
    Empty the recycle bin
Boot and post a new log

Please give feedback on what worked/didn’t work and the current status of your system

Fix that R3 entry with Hijack

    Download CWShredder http://www.intermute.com/products/cwshredder.html

    Close all browser windows,
Open cwshredder.exe then click "Fix" and let it run.

Delete this file C:\Documents and Settings\Billl\Desktop\l2mfix\backup.zip

Post a new log - also tell me what problems you are having
