    Hi,

I'm running windows xp on my laptop, and ever since yesterday, all the programs installed on my laptop have disappeared, including all the shortcuts and files saved on the desktop.

    When I go to:

    > Start

    > Programs

    All I get is "Empty"

However, when you go into the C drive, Program Files, all the installed programs are still there.

I thought about restoring the system (but have never done it before, so decided not to) but couldn't do the following:

    > Start

    > Accessibilty

As all i keep getting is "Empty"

The laptop is shared by myself and my housemates, surprise surprise no one is taking responsibility of owning upto what led upto this happening.

The only programs I do have access to are the ones I presume are directly installed onto the desktop -Internet Explorer & Outlook. However when I downloaded both a pdf file & word document and double clicked them, they opened with no problems in their respective applications.

As per your instructions i have the log as below:

I really hope someone out there can help me out.

    Thanks in advance
