Ok, this is my first entry so hopefully someone will know whats wrong :) ...

the problem is everytime i try to run a program that attempts to connect to the internet, it freezes. for example i open up internet explorer, and it freezes...it says "downloading from stie: http://www.google.com/" which is the site im tryin to go to, but nothing happens, and when i open up task manager it says it is not responding. when i try and sign onto aim (instant messenger) it gets to the sign on stage and then freezes, again not responding in the task manager. if i try and connect to the internet while playing a game it freezes and again not responding. msn messenger will freeze, it actually connects but then freezes and again not responding. even automatic update freezes when it tries to download an update...i didnt install any new programs or mess with any settings, it just started after i downloaded the latest update, but the download didnt even finsih, so i dont know what could be causing this...please help?

do you have free spybasher ools like ad aware// spybot .... if not, get them from links below...and read how to set them up efficiently via the tutorials below. Do that first then we'll show you how to post a hjt log here if need be.

Good morning:

That behavior of Internet Explorer seems a hijacked browser; sometimes a browser helper object causes this, download and install Spybot Search & Destroy, READ THE TUTORIAL before you make any changes to your computer.

damr :)

In some cases believe it or not, if using dialup you have to disable hyperthreading if using Intel P4 2.6g--3.2g. dont know why but it works for me.
