Not that its the most important thing, (or of much importance at all for that matter) but as far as the alphabetical listing of the users names goes, it might be a good idea to change it. Being that there are over 1,000 pages in it and say you want too look for a name that starts with a letter in the middle of the alphabet, you have to go page by page, or click on the number, but it only shows the two before and after, so you can only move at most 2 pages at a time. I was just thinking you might want to have somthing on the top with the alphabet and each letter linking to the beginning of that letter in the alphabetical listings. It just seems to me that the alphabetical listing the way it is, is pretty much useless, or very time consuming. Of course, I could be dumb and just not know how to move around that well, but hey, i'm new.

    Just an idea

Well hello there newbie... ;) welcome to the boards. That sounds like it would be a nice idea... but right now Mike is very overwhelmed... and there are ways to get around it that are just as easy. If you go into advanced search... at the top somewhere in the members tab... and in the search by username field, just put the letter you want to start searching with and click search. That way, if you are looking for someone with a username that starts with d, for example, search for "d" and you get all the "d" usernames, and can sort through them from there. It is only maybe 2 seconds harder to to it that way... :D hope that helps. :)

You can go to search, type in the user name, or partial, and usualy find the person you are looking for, while a more positive user database might be easy...I think Tech Guy is busy right now !!..perhaps a little later ...Rhett...PS....Deuce...we're on the same page !

Actually guys, if you do a search for say T, like my name, the search will list every name with a T in it. The results for that search started with:

    $horty
    $teve
    *POrN [email protected]*[UK]
    1-NEO-Star
    etc...

So give the newbie some credit, (I have to say that, he's my brother  ) but, I also know that Mikes too busy to deal with this sort of request, but it is a good idea if he ever finds some free time. But I know when you got a girlfriend, free time is a rare commodity :D

Now Todd... you are supposed to have more control over her than it sounds like you have... because of course we ALL know how easy it is to be in charge in those situations... (yeah... right)

Hummm... I never actually never tried doing a search so I never noticed that. It would be a good idea... but in awhile. :)

Okay, I have all these men on this site talking about me so I figure I have to defend myself. Yes Mike, he did admit to plenty when I questioned him about it...As far as free time being a rare commodity, Todd spends more time with his computer than he does with me. I've told him that we could break up if he wanted more free time, but for some reason he doesn't like that idea.....

P.S. The reason we don't let you guys be in charge is because that's how things get messed up. If we have control than everyone is happy and everything runs smoothly.

I've looked into this a bit... as far as I can tell, no one has done this with vB and I personally can't figure out how to hack it...

Maybe when a newer version comes out?

    Sorry...

ok... well, don't sweat it. It's not like an important addition to vB, but it would be nice if vB added it...

(but if anyone could do it, it'd be you)

Thanks to deuce, I came to discover that this is actually a standard feature in vB... it was added in one of the upgrades, but not turned on automatically, so I had no idea it was even there! Anyway, it's on now, although this IE5.5/Win95 machine doesn't like it... (obviously, I'm not on my usual machine =)
