I have been using an AlphaPal 8045 heatsink for a while and the temps are quite good. However, I was recentlt told that the fan on these should be install the opposite way so as to draw air out instead of force it in. What's the truth?

Can't say for sure on that specific heatsink, but the latest tests I saw on thermaltake's showed that pushing air into the heatsink resulted in better cooling

    It's hard to say.... experiment!

If you have a fan in the side of your case pushing air into the case reverse it aswell as the cpu fan if you're going to switch the cooler fan.

I have a thermaltake 7+ and temps are abotu 2oC cooler with the fan pulling air THROUGH the heatsink and out of my case fan in the side, this makes case temps a few degrees cooler aswel.
