Altering an animation

I was sent an annimation and want to alter it.
My Powerpoint,Photodraw and publisher do not recognise it.
How can I tell what it has been made in then alter it?
"Properties" on it say Flashplayer 4.0r7 and the icon is of an envelope with a padlock on it.

What is the extention of the file? IE: Resume.doc is a document, fish.jpg is a JPEG file. How big is the file?

.zI9 is what is after the title.But this may be something to do with Zone Alarm warning not to open.
The Virus detector showed no probs though.

I had the this virus.

They was renamed by ZoneAlarm and Norton came up clean because of the file types. I never open the attachments because I knew they were virus from the name of...

There were .exe and .scr file types the got rename to to one of these here.
