I bought s Robotic's 3PC5610A Controller based faxmodem. I tried & tried & tried to get it working but my computer can't detect
it!! Has mu computer lost it's Brains or have I for buying that dang thing. I have since bought a zoom same style PCI modem and it installed in 15 minutes without a hitch, but the Robotic's modem is supposed to do a better Job. How can I get Gertrude(My Computer) to recognize it ! !

RedRebel,

You might try removing the modem unistalling it in device manager, then reinstall it in another PCI slot.

Hi RedRebel,

Sometimes bits get left behind,
run mdmdel.exe to tidy up after old modems,
then see if it will install ok.

I think thats on the 98 CD somewhere,
or you can find downloads on the net.

RedRebel,

Can't help with your problem but just had to say that I love 'Gertrude' for your computer's name!

Mine has a name too, it's 'That bloody thing' as in 'That bloody thing has crashed again'

US Robotics modems aren't any better then any other modems they are better at making it difficult to install though, I’ve installed about 10 USR's and they all fought me every step of the way. Take John1's advice that should work, but if you can get a refund on the USR do it.

Hey TOGG I had a bloody computer once, I cut the back of my hand on the drive cage while installing a motherboard. I named that one mother fu#@&r. :D
