It is no wonder that Amazon has removed the "Leave Packaging Feedback" button; the last few years, it is a miracle that anything arrives, let alone arrives in one piece.

It is rare indeed to receive a package that is even close to being safely packaged; the last several orders that I have received, the items were rattling around loosely inside a cavernous big box with no packing material at all.

Way back when Amazon began, we would receive an order and the contents would be deeply buried inside a mountain of styrofoam peanuts; you could drop the box from an airplane and the contents would not be hurt.

And, they can never seem to get the box flaps taped anymore.
The order I received yesterday had both top and bottom flaps loose, with my items ready to fall out.

This kind of behavior has become the norm instead of the exception and Amazon seems to have removed any means of complaining about the issue.

Am I the only one that has been noticing this ?

It's funny you should post this as I'm currently dealing with the same issue. For almost two months I've been trying to obtain items I ordered, one of which is five bottles of liquid hand soap. Well I guess you know where this is going already.

The first shipment arrived pouring soap out of the box and the driver suggested I refuse it and he sent it back. So begins the nightmare. Amazon created a replacement order with guaranteed faster shipping which never arrived. to make a long story short, the THIRD replacement order did arrive yesterday while I was out so they left it on my back gallery. More than half a bottle of soap leaked out of the package and dripped down through the cracks of the boards on the gallery down to my cement stairway to the basement and into the drain to the sump pit.

After spending half an hour cleaning up the mess, I opened the package and there was absolutely no packing material, no bubble wrap, not even brown paper. The soaps were each in a plastic bag but obviously not leak-proof. Another item was a soft cover book which, needless to say, was ruined. In previous shipments each bottle was surrounded with bubble wrap to protect them.

So I took several pictures which I now have to upload to the computer and send to them.

Also, they recently removed the option to email them about problems with orders so you can only either request a telephone call back or chat. I think they are just too big now and are trying to get everything out of the warehouse as fast as possible without regard for properly packaging the contents.

We have one of their packaging centers in the next county over and I know several people who have worked there for a few weeks (I don't know anyone that has stayed any longer); everyone I talk to says that it is a miracle that anything survives the way they want you to throw and sling stuff around and rush rush rush; I had the misfortune to work at Walmart and they are no better.

I have quit ordering anything sensitive to damage, such as hard-drives and the like, from Amazon as they will arrive loose in a huge box; all that I have received from Newegg were very safely packaged.

It is funny that you mention the liquid soap episode; I have a particular brand/formula of liquid hand soap that I prefer and it is getting to where I can't find it locally.
I did find it on Amazon and was about to order some; maybe I will seek it elsewhere.

That was my dilemma too. I have chemical sensitivities and can't tolerate the scents and other ingredients of many soaps so I have to use fragrance-free soaps and I found this one on Amazon.

    Amazon Feedback form

If I may add my two cents. I have ordered many times from amazon when I couldn't find what I wanted locally. I have never experienced any bad packaging from Amazon. All the items from computer components and toys to power tools have always been packed and shipped securely (bubble wrap, paper or styrofoam popcorn) in side the box to prevent damage.

Thank you for the feedback form.
It says they don't respond to the form; I hope it doesn't just disappear to a never-read e-mail account.

I buy a few things now and then from Amazon. Mostly what isn't available locally or a significant price difference.
But, knock on wood, no issues with poor packaging.

Just placed an order for a motorcycle battery and now I'm wondering on it getting to me safely.

(John depending on what type battery you ordered it could be considered hazardous material, thus shipped and labeled according to CFR regulations.
If not packaged and transported by those codes, the sellers/shippers could get in trouble. Hopefully yours arrives safe and secure.)

I have had little issue with Amazon packaging, other than lately the box seems too big for the item, but there's still some packing material in it.
Never had a damaged item, even though sometimes the shipping box seems worse for the wear.
Recently many of my orders have been stuffed in the mailbox by the Postal Service, smaller things that come in a bubbled envelope. Sometime it's hard to remove from the mail box... really crammed in there.

    No problems, RT.

I'm a bit familiar with CFR regs. Have seen some lithium batteries shipped with designated packaging. Some not.
I've had fillable batteries shipped with acid in separate containers, with out the protocols and now a sealed battery also shipped with out the stickers.

I was impressed how securely the battery was shipped.
And had no problem removing it from my mailbox.

Maybe you need a bigger mailbox :D

I wouldn't dare order anything containing acid as all my packages leak all over the place.

I could fix that for you RT. I could drive by and whack it with a baseball bat (mailbox baseball). :D

That would certainly put mailbox replacement at the top of the "to do" list :D

I guess I have been fortunate up to this point. I order something once a week from Amazon, and haven't had any issues.
