Is there any advantage of socket 939 over AM2 processors?
    Which is newer/more advanced?
Is one more efficient than the other?

AM2 is Newer as 939 is pretty much dead now or on its way. AM2 uses DDR2 & 939 uses DDR

Other then that there is no much difference between the 2.

    Ciao

In NVidia's case their NForce 500 and 600 series are better then the NForce4 which had issues with dual core processors and high volume USB transfers, IDE compatibility, and Firewall corruption. Note that the NForce4 chipset comes on both 939 and AM2 socketed boards.
