Hi to all,
recently i have added an extra harddisk to my system(AMD Athlon XP 2800+,512MB,Radeon 9600 pro (256MB) ), ever since i added this new harddisk (Maxtor 160gb) i have noted an increase in my CPU temp, the maximum it reaches seems to be 40C when it usually used to reach around 30C. Is this increase normal ?

Thanks for any help,
Edward.

Should not really have affected the CPU temp, unless it impeded the airflow a little in the case. That would indicate poor case ventilation

Remember that the CPU temperature will be dependent on the room temperature, if that goes up 10° then so will the CPU go up 10°

40C is not bad for a t-bred processor in fact this one is at 40C right now. As to the new drive affecting the temp, not really unless [as posted above it blocked some airflow] or it is taxing the ps too much now. An under powered ps will cause temps to go up.

If the maximum is 40C, I wouldn't worry. Your temps are low to begin with. 30C would be in the range of a good watercooling system..
