AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series drivers problem

    Some time ago I decided to install a new graphics card as I have become involve with the Microsoft Flight Sim X and with all of the add-ons that I was beginning to install the onboard graphics on my Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-US2H mother board was not making the grade with frame rate problems and freezes. I purchased an AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series card and installed it. When I went to install the drivers I encountered a problem with an error Install program failure. I took the PC to the computer tech guy at my wife’s work and he had a look and managed to get things working for me. I asked him at the time if I may experience this problem again when I next update my drives and he replied yes most probably.
    Its been sometime maybe 12 months since this happened and tonight I decided to check if there was a driver update for my card so I went to the AMD website and downloaded there app that scans your system and detects if there is a newer driver available. It detected that there was a new driver 12-2_xp32dd_ccc.exe it downloaded it unpacked it and began to install the driver all seems fine until it gets to the Catalyst Control Center part of the installation and then a dialogue box pops up saying Install Package Failure click OK and new message appears Failures occurred during installation view log

    I now have no Catalyst Control Center in the control panel or on the right side of the bottom bar on my desktop if I right click on the dest top I still have the option to open the control center on the dropdown but if I click on it nothing happens.
    I think from memory this is pretty much the same thing that happened on the original install.
    Any help on fixing this problem would be very much appreciated.

    Hi,

    Have you tried rolling back to the previous driver to see if that fixes things?

    -or-

    Uninstalling the driver package completely to the point where the is a yellow "!" mark under display in device manager and reinstalling. Make sure u delete any files left behind after uninstalling, before reinstalling.
