Poochers, with respect, that's just kind of silly.

Are you suggesting that by limiting the scope of the federal gov't, we'll be living in cardboard boxes?

You would think the republicans would be all over this. Guess they're like the one's you know - just no drive.

I doubt there is much fraud with SS other than those hiding a death. Now SSI, Medicare and Medicaid I suspect many fraudulent claims - we see it every day in the news someone or group getting caught.

May be, may be not. I would fear fraudulent claims / cost / billings would offset any savings. Just MHO.

I've never paid $10 for a hamburger nor ever entered a Starbucks nor bought their product. But I think the $10 burger and Starbucks would be typical cost results turning some things over to the private sector.

You're paying less in federal taxes today than under GWB, but I agree, you're not paying enough.:D

...................and what do you base that observation on?? What's the basis of this thread?? Not to mention who and what ripped us off and brought us to the economic brink - Banks, Wall St., Fat Cats, dumb arsed Iraq war, etc. They did more damage than all the frauders combined - why not get the lions share of public ire?

Maryland co. to pay $150M in health fraud probe
    (y) Justice Dept.
    DAVID PORTER | September 12, 2011 02:49 PM EST | AP

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NEWARK, N.J. — A Maryland-based health care company accused of defrauding Medicaid and other federal programs will pay $150 million in a settlement announced Monday.

Maxim Healthcare Systems is a health care staffing agency based in Columbia, Md., with offices in more than 40 states. Under the agreement with federal prosecutors announced Monday, Maxim will pay a criminal penalty of $20 million and civil penalties totaling approximately $130 million to Medicaid programs and the Veterans Affairs program.

About $70 million will go to the federal government and $60 million will go to 42 states where false claims were made. Tony West, assistant attorney general of the Justice Department's civil division, said it was the largest civil settlement in a home health care fraud case.

OK, I'll say it this once more and I'm not saying it again. Comments, requests, questions, complaints etc. with regard to content or nature of a thread are to be addressed thru the proper channels, certainly not in the open forum(s).

Read the second sticky at the top of CT, in fact read the whole set of rules:rolleyes:

I'm deleting all posts in breach of same said in here and all those subsequently out of context.

Be strongly advised that there be no repetition and use caution.

    Everyone!!!!

    I would like to add further to this;
The main expense of the military is paying for technology etc....staff is also being paid whether war or peace
Then there is practice during peace time with weapons...planes etc
The different between war and peace is one is for real..the other is simulated
It adds very little to the cost for it being the real thing

    STORY HIGHLIGHTS
Hilton Worldwide says muffins were part of $16 breakfast
Inspector General say it itemized the costs at conference
But it does not know whether food tab factored in "free" meeting space

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Stung by an audit report this week that highlighted "$16 muffins" at a conference at the Capital Hilton in Washington, the hotel chain is fighting back, insisting the pricey pastries were not that expensive.

1st GOP trial opens in Pa. corruption scandal
    PETER JACKSON | September 26, 2011 01:31 PM EST | AP

HARRISBURG, Pa. — Driven by a hunger to expand their power base, top Republicans in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives illegally used millions of dollars in taxpayers' money, employees and equipment to compile massive databases of information about state voters to boost the potency of GOP campaigns, the lead prosecutor said Monday as the corruption trial of three former officials opened.

The trial "is about powerful people taking the public's money and using it to expand and enhance their campaigns," Chief Deputy Attorney General Frank Fina told the Dauphin County jury of six men and six women in his opening statement.
