AMR Slot

    what is an AMR Slot and will win 98se recognize a motherboard with one?

    AMR is a special modem slot, it takes an AMR Modem. This is a special type of modem which only fits in this type of slot. It is the only type of card the AMR slot uses. Windows will see it.

    so would AMR be better than a PCI modem?

    I dont think better, but cheap (maybe ten bucks) and it might save a PCI slot But check your case first. On the board where I had an AMR riser it was on the extreme right of the board and there was no space in the back of the case for the bracket.
