I am looking to find out how to convert analogue into readable digital plain text.

For example, i want to record an analogue signal from a dialup internet connection then convert it later into text on the computer.

I'm wondering if someone could point me into the right direction as to what hardware/software can do this for me.

    Thank you

Lets see if I have this right. You want to record the screech and other audio noise from a dial up connection. Is that what you're saying? Then you want to convert that noise into readable text? Well there are lots od applications that do that now, analog to digital, cell phones, cameras and the like but I don't know if there is one piece of hardware/software that will do both the conversion and then transform that to readable text. You can get something like this: http://www.amabilidade2002.com/toslink2.htm but how to get it in a readable format's another matter.

By the way, welcome to the board.

Thanks for the information. With the hardware that you stated, how could i get the data into the computer once its converted.

Im thinking maybe its from analogue to digital (binary), then into ascii plaintext?
