This may sound ignorant, is a Chromebook computer the same as a Android phone, and is there a separate area I should ask questions about Chromebooks and Chrome operating sysrem?
I'm having a hard time trying to figure out my settings, I think I've screwed up my Acer Chromebook. I got a pop up yesterday that said the website I was on was not secure and it never happened before. In a popup it said stuff about http and https. Is it okay to still use these forums and websites I've used before the not secure box started to appear yesterday next to the address area?

If you're afraid you can use VPN on your device in order not to lose your info and I would recommend you to install antivirus. These days more and more websites are considered like not secured ones and it's hard to understand what can we use without any risks.

A VPN will not doing anything when connecting to a site that is not secure at their end.

A "VPN" or proxy/anonymizer service is unnecessary for most users and gives many a false sense of security. Don't worry about it.
